Final covers.
Final covers.
This is the design I’m going for. I asked the opinions of a few people and they said they didn’t like the text between each main title. I agreed so I tried a mixture of hand-written and computer typed text and I think this looks more professional, as well as still giving a hand-made feel to the books. I am going to use the top cover because I think it’s bold but the limited colour keeps it simple. The edited illustration shows what’s inside without giving too much away.
I don’t think the others are standing out enough so here I’m trying out a red version of my drawing. I think also the problem is the computer type, which isn’t at all interesting so I’ve gone back to hand-written titles. I think it works better than computer text.
Trying out less and larger, edited images. Not quite right yet but getting there…
Too vertical, and the other, even though I made the illustrations different to those inside, I think still reveals too much of the content. Also too much white space and not eye-catching.
I’m not using this cover because it reveals too much of what is inside the book, and I don’t like it when books re-use the same images.
